I'm not averse to having a taste of the brew when syphoning but it is a bit more hygienic to use this type of syphon tube. It's a good length so I can easily transfer from my brewing barrels. I generally do a secondary ferment and the syphon is very good keeping lumps of yeast out of the brew. The hand pumps works well. In all this is fit for purpose. It is though quite difficult to clean out completely and the plastic tube is a bit thinner, so water just sticks inside.

The "tap" on this to control the flow is a clip that pinches the plastic tube in the middle. I had no problems siphoning into the bottling bucket, but going from the bucket to the bottles meant I had to pinch it closed a lot, leaving the tube with a permanent kink in it that restricted the flow. I doubt I'll get a second use out of it.
